Hua-lienCounty is geographically located at the east coast of Taiwan.
On the north side Peace (He-Ping) River and Mts. South Lake (Nan-hu) are neighboring the I-lan County. The west side extends from Mts. South Lake (Nan-hu), Mt. Central Point (Zhong-Yang Jian), Mt. Bi-Lu, Mt. Da-Yu, Mt. He-Huan, Mt. Qi-Lai, Mt. Nan-Gao, Mts. Dan-Da, Mts. Shiu-Gu-Luan to Mt. San-Cha ridges and joints with Taichun County, Nan-Tou County and Kaohsiung County.
The south has Mt. San-Cha, Mt. Bulakesan, Mt. Lun-tian, Chi-Fu Bridge in the Hua-Dong Valley, and the highest mountain on the coastline Mt. New Port (Shin-Gang), along with Mt. Guang-Ao, Mt. Chi-Luo and Point Da-Fong are |

neighboring Taitung County.
The eastern side, extending from Peace (He-Ping) Village to Point Da-Fong, is the seashore of 136-km long facing the dark blue Pacific Ocean, which is full of abundant oceanic ecology.
Speaking of landscape, Hua-lien County is on the eastern wing of the Taiwan Central Mountains. The north and middle section of the Hua-Dong Valley along with the Oceanic Mountains region, Hua-lien's long and narrow landscape is the county with the largest land size in Taiwan.
The west altitude reaches 3805 meters high on the top of Mt. Shiu-Gu-Luan, and downwards to 130km long lowland Fu-Li Town in the Hua-Dong Valley of Hua-lien City. This area is the connection joint of European-Asian Plate and Philippines Oceanic Plate. Hua-Dong Valley has different fault alluvial tract zone. The north side is the rising Su-Hua fault causing oceanic escarpment and mountainous landscape, valleys, unique coastal mountains and variety of ecology nearby the Pacific waves, which make “hui-len” sound that is in turn pronounced like “Hua-lien” for its name.
