Hua-lien is born with the beautiful coastline, facing east to the dark blue Pacific Ocean and relying its back on the green coastal mountain. No. 11 Taiwan Coastal Highway displays the abundant variety of the landscape and the enriched culture of the people. The aboriginal ethnic group “Misacepo Tribe” is making a living along the coastline. Kavalan Tribe, the expert of making clothes from banana leafs, and the Hans coming to here at the later stage were living together to weave the hot coastal scenery.

No. 12 Valley River, walking on the Cow Mountain Beach, Potato Cave Valley, Overlooking Tower, Ji-Qi Ocean Bath, Stone Gate to Stone Flat Environmental Classroom, exploring Stalactite Cave, canoeing in the Shiu-Gu-Lun River, Long Rainbow (Cheng-Hong) Bridge and landmark of tropic of cancer. Along the way, different landscapes are observed, including sand hill, marine erosion land, gravel beach, escarpment ocean, sand bay, ending river, marine terrace, uprising stone stage, uprising coral reef and etc.
Among which, Shi Ti Ping is the largest coral coastline in Hua-lien. It is full of different creatures and marine erosion land. Intertidal zone and caves form the tidal pond where is the best place to watch and observe various kinds of creatures, such as algae, fish, shrimps, shells and etc. Travelers can walk on the circulating walk path to observe live creatures, or climb the 17-meter high One Side Mountain, or join the trip on the ship to visit the whales.
On the religion and culture front, He-Nan Temple’s plane architecture located in Yan-liao Village is worthwhile visiting because it promotes Buddhism through multimedia arts. The Guan-Yin Buddha Sculpture at the back of the temple was the mater piece of well-known sculpture artist Ying-Fong Yang. Every year from July to September, the Miladis Tribe Festival “Ilisin” celebrating fruitful year of agriculture and worshipping for ancestor through loud and clear singing and wonderful dancing has attracted a lot of travelers. |
