This is the most magnificent part of Taroko Valley, where the uprising standing cliffs were facing each other. During the exploration stage, it was especially difficult and dangerous part to explore when the wind was from the broad river valley to the narrow valley causing the air suddenly escalated upward.
The new tunnel was constructed at Nine-Curve Cave in 1996, so that the visitors can watch the folded and faulted landscape of marble cliffs. The two cliffs are very close to each other, and it looks like they are joining to each other if watching from afar. This section has the reputation of “Nine Curve Dragon”. The range between the cliffs is just 10-meter wide. At the gap of the rocks, a small river is the spot amazes all travelers because the water erupting out within the rocks from unknown source and forming a “Li fish jumping across the dragon gate” scenery.
