The Gao-Liao Bridge in Da-Yu Li of Yu-Li Town is the route to Jing-Zhen Garden within Mt. Chi Ke of altitude of 800 meters. This forest on the west wing of Coastal Mountains used to have forest fire, and thereafter it is named as “Mt. Chi Ke”.
Due to the August 7th flooding in Central Taiwan in 1960, many suffered farmers were relocated by the Agriculture Bureau to Mt. Chi Ke to grow fruit trees and tea farm. The economic benefit was not favorable, and the farmers changed to grow Xuan grass of Jing-Zhen flower. This change had brought income for the farmers, and until now there is 400-acre of land growing Jing-Zhen flowers and tea farm. Agriculture Bureau of Hua-lien County initiated this area to become tourist area. Farmers see more tourist coming to town, so they start to offer meals and accommodation service for travelers. |
